Switching Between Plans

No proration is applied when switching plans. Below are all transition options and their rules. Worked examples with numbers are on the "Examples of Complete Calculations" page.

Upgrade — Switching to a More Expensive Plan

  1. The system checks that the new plan is more expensive than the current one and that the balance is sufficient — otherwise the operation is rejected with an "Insufficient balance" error.

  2. The full price of the new plan is charged (with your discount, if any).

  3. The plan takes effect immediately and a new 30-day cycle starts from the upgrade date.

  4. The new plan's limits are granted in full, and usage (events, installs) starts counting from zero at the moment of the switch.

  5. Unused days and remaining limits of the old plan are not refunded and do not carry over. Previously paid overages are not refunded either — they are payment for resources already consumed.

For this reason, upgrading is most cost-effective near the end of the current cycle or once your limits are exhausted.

Switching to a Plan with the Same Price

Switching between plans with the same subscription fee (for example, Pro ↔ Tracker Pro at $99) follows the same rules as an upgrade:

  • The full price of the new plan is charged.

  • A new 30-day cycle starts, the new plan's limits are granted in full, and usage counts from zero.

Why is the subscription fee charged? Switching plan functionality starts a new 30-day cycle — you pay for the full new period.

Downgrade — Switching to a Cheaper Plan

A direct switch to a cheaper plan is blocked while the current plan (active, or canceled but not yet expired) is in effect. To move to a cheaper plan:

  1. Cancel your current subscription.

  2. Wait until the paid period ends.

  3. Activate the desired plan — its full price will be charged and a new 30-day cycle will start.

Cancelling the Subscription

  1. The plan gets the Canceled status but keeps working in full until the end of the paid period.

  2. After the period expires, auto-renewal does not happen.

  3. There are no refunds or recalculations.

While the paid period is still active, you can: reactivate the same plan for free (the period is already paid) or upgrade to a more expensive plan (full price, new cycle). After the period expires, you can activate any plan, including a cheaper one.
